Job Description
Job OverviewThe Dialysis Services Technician (DST) supports the nursing team in providing safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients receiving dialysis treatment.Working under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the DST assists with monitoring patients, documenting observations, and performing delegated patient care tasks in accordance with the patient care plan, facility policies, and Maryland Board of Nursing regulations.The DST is responsible for maintaining accurate patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), promptly reporting abnormal observations, and assisting in infection control procedures using established safety guidelines, including those from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively during patient care situations or emergencies.The Dialysis Services Technician must maintain professional relationships with patients, supervisors, and healthcare team members while contributing to a safe, clean, and supportive healthcare environment.Duties Perform duties in accordance with written instructions in the Patient Care Plan.Utilize the nursing process in providing safe, effective, and efficient patient care.Assess patient needs and problems related to illness and health and document appropriately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).Consult with nursing staff and other team members regarding patient care issues.Document patient care observations and interventions in the patient's progress notes in the EMR or flowsheet.Promptly report abnormal observations to nurses.Attend to patient infections and dispose of infectious waste according to Infection Control procedures and CDC Bloodborne Pathogens, Standard, and Transmission-Based Precautions guidelines.Assess and react appropriately to crises in a calm and professional manner.Carry out procedures for self-protection and patient safety, especially for patients who may pose danger to themselves or others.Assist with behavior management techniques in accordance with applicable guidelines.Perform other related duties as required.Skills Be certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant - Dialysis Technician (DST) from the Maryland Board of Nursing.Communicate clearly and understandably in English, both in writing and orally.Utilize positive interpersonal skills.Interact effectively with supervisors and staff at the Center.Maintain a professional relationship with all individuals at the Center.Pay:$24.44 - $29.43 per hour Benefits:Flexible schedule Travel reimbursement Work Location:In person.
