Job Description
S&W Contracting Company, LLC has been serving the Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee area for more than 60 years , delivering excellence in commercial electrical services and traffic control. We are seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment. This role is critical in ensuring our trucks and equipment operate efficiently, safely, and reliably to support daily operations and project schedules. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment Identify equipment failures and determine appropriate repair solutions Rebuild, replace, or repair major diesel engine components such as heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions Coordinate with operations and management to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance Follow all safety policies and procedures in the shop and on job sites Stay current with advancements in diesel engine technology and repair practices After hour roadside service may be needed All other duties as assigned Qualifications Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic; experience with fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, or construction-related industries preferred Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems Ability to use diagnostic tools and specialized repair equipment Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Commitment to safety standards and company policies High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical diesel training is a plus Valid driver’s license required; CDL required Work Environment Work performed in maintenance facilities, repair shops, and occasionally in the field Physically demanding role requiring lifting heavy components and equipment Exposure to varying weather conditions may be required Compensation 62k - 73+ per year based on experience annual bonus based on company profitability Physical Standards Rare: (less than 10%): sitting, kneeling, crawling, color-vision, climbing stairs Occasional: (up to 33%): stooping, squatting, climbing on/off a truck, reading, pushing, climbing ladders, lifting to 50 lbs. Frequent: (up to 66%): walking, body-twisting, manual dexterity, speaking clearly, hearing-speech range, lifting, carrying, pulling, balancing, lifting to 10-20 lbs. Continuous: (up to 100%): standing, sense of touch, seeing distant, climbing, gripping, lifting 10-50 lbs., seeing, reaching, range of motion, depth perception Possession of good hearing, normal or corrected. Possession of good vision, normal or corrected.
