Job Summary We are seeking a shop assistant to join our team. As an assistant, you will be responsible for performing basic routine maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment assisting our mechanic as needed. Your expertise in vehicle maintenance and repair will ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet. Duties Assist in routine maintenance on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks Assist in diagnosing and repair mechanical issues with diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other vehicle systems Assist in inspections to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair diesel engines Assist in brake repairs, including replacing brake pads, calipers, and rotors Assist in repairs or replace faulty components such as alternators, starters, and fuel injectors Assist in basic fabrication work, weld or solder as needed Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area Skills: Experience as a mechanic or similar role Knowledge of diesel engines and vehicle systems Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in diesel engine repair Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics Experience with hydraulic systems is preferred but not required Physical strength and stamina to perform heavy lifting and manual labor tasks Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail If you are a skilled mechanic looking for a challenging role with opportunities for growth, we want to hear from you.
