Location: Louisville, KY Category: Staff Positions Job Type: Full-time Exempt Posted On: Wed May 20 2026 Job Description: Bellarmine University Library is seeking a collaborative and service-oriented Digital Services Librarian to join our team. This position will manage, promote, document, and troubleshoot the library's digital resources and systems. The Digital Services Librarian is primarily responsible for the management of the library website, databases and discovery system, and proxy server. This position will investigate AI developments to help identify and explore the appropriate and responsible uses of this developing technology; as well as support the use of open access resources (OER) for student success. The digital services librarian will contribute to core library functions by providing in-person and virtual reference and research assistance, information literacy instruction and participating in collection management. This is a regular, 12-month, full-time position with non-tenure track faculty status. Hours will vary and include covering most evening reference shifts as well as occasional weekend shifts in coordination with other professional staff and depending upon the University's academic schedule. Responsibilities and Duties Administer and maintain the library's website, Springshare LibApps, EZProxy, and WMS Discovery Service. Ensure that systems remain available and interoperable. Collaborate with librarians and staff as necessary to support and troubleshoot other library resources, including databases and Digital Commons (BEPress Institutional Repository). Advise, train, and teach staff, faculty, and students about new library technologies. Explore AI tools and AI-related research and library services to identify and instruct on the appropriate and responsible uses of this developing technology. Collaborate with faculty and other campus units to promote awareness, evaluation and use of OER resources for student success Provide in-depth research assistance to students, faculty, and staff, as well as other patrons; work with patrons in person, over the phone and via e-mail/chat to teach them to identify and use the library's print and electronic resources; assist patrons in evaluating online resources. Serve as liaison librarian to select academic departments to facilitate use of library resources and services by the departmental faculty and students. Provide library instruction class sessions in support of the curriculum and to promote information literacy and lifelong learning. Work in conjunction with other librarians to create online educational resources, libguides, videos/tutorials, etc. and make those resources and materials accessible to students, faculty, and staff. Investigate digitization of archival resources. Assist in evaluation and selection of library resources. Develop workflows, best practices, and documentation to manage library systems and electronic resources. Collaborate with colleagues within the Library, Information Technology Services, and across campus on library systems and services. Keep current on developments in the field of library science and information technology. Assists as needed with circulation, technical processing, and other aspects of library operations. Represent the library or university on committees as well as at conferences or meetings as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Library Services. Job Requirements: ALA-accredited master's degree in library and information science, or an advanced degree equivalent. Strong public service orientation and skills, tact, and the ability to work with a diverse population. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Windows/Microsoft environments with the ability and desire to learn additional software applications as necessary. Ability to establish effective collaborations with faculty and library colleagues as well as work independently. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Springshare products (e.g. LibGuides, LibAnswers). Experience with relevant information/instructional technology, such as integrated library systems, open-URL link resolvers, and Microsoft Office applications. Additional Information:
