Job Description
ManTech International is seeking an Incident Technician to support our Information Technology (IT) & Technical Support organization in delivering mission-critical services to U.S. national security, defense, and federal agencies. In this role, you will be on the front line of cyber defense, monitoring and responding to incidents that affect complex, high-impact environments. Drawing on ManTech’s culture of innovation, integrity, and respect for individual contributions, you will work closely with cyber security engineers, system administrators, and network teams to identify, analyze, and contain security events before they impact sensitive systems. As an Incident Technician, you will continuously monitor security tools, event logs, and ticketing queues to detect anomalous activity and potential threats. You will perform initial triage and impact assessment, execute established playbooks for containment and mitigation, and escalate issues to senior engineers when advanced analysis or remediation is required. Your work will include analyzing alerts from SIEM platforms, endpoint protection tools, and network security devices; documenting each step of the incident lifecycle; and ensuring accurate, timely communication to stakeholders throughout an event. You will investigate a broad range of issues—from malware and phishing attempts to access anomalies, policy violations, and performance-related incidents—helping to safeguard the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of critical systems. You will collaborate with senior cyber security engineers to refine detection rules, tune alerts to reduce false positives, and enhance incident handling procedures. You will also contribute to post-incident reviews, creating clear documentation and lessons learned that feed directly into improved defenses and operational resilience. This position suits a technically solid professional with experience in IT support, security operations, or incident response who is eager to grow in the cybersecurity domain. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment, handling multiple incidents concurrently, and following rigorous procedures while exercising sound judgment. Familiarity with Windows and Linux systems, TCP/IP networking, log analysis, and common enterprise security tools will help you succeed from day one. At ManTech, you will be part of a team that values innovation and continuous learning. As you support a Cyber Security Engineering mission that safeguards national security systems, you will have the opportunity to deepen your incident response skills, work with cutting-edge security technologies, and contribute to solutions that directly affect the safety and effectiveness of critical U.S. government operations.
