Join NeMCMHA as a Direct Support Technician / Supported Independent Living (SIP) Worker and become part of a team dedicated to empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives. What You’ll Do As a Direct Support Technician / SIP Worker, you’ll provide personalized support to individuals living in their own homes or transitioning to community-based environments. Your responsibilities include: Assisting with daily living activities and personal care Teaching home maintenance and life skills Supporting individuals in community activities, medical appointments, shopping, and leisure Providing safe medication assistance and physical support using assistive devices Helping with meal planning, shopping, and preparation Encouraging independence and building natural supports and friendships Maintaining accurate documentation and communication This role is about empowerment, respect, and inclusion —helping people make choices and live integrated, independent lives. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or GED preferred Experience: Knowledge of developmental disabilities is a plus; lived experience with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders valued Skills: Strong communication, ability to follow instructions, and sound judgment Requirements: At least 18 years old Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record Ability to work a flexible schedule Team-oriented mindset About NeMCMHA Since 1968, Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority has provided services that help individuals live and work independently.
