Director, Design & Construction – Homebuilding & Multifamily Development Location: Pasadena, CA About the Role We are seeking a Director of Design & Construction to lead the execution of ground-up residential development projects across Senior Living and Build-to-Rent (BTR) communities. As a fully integrated developer, we own and control entitled land across the Inland Empire, with plans to break ground on 400+ rental units beginning in 2026–2027. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply passionate about transforming land into thoughtfully designed, high-quality communities—and who thrives in a hands-on, high-impact leadership position. Key Responsibilities Lead all phases of design and construction for multiple ground-up projects, from pre-development through close-out Oversee project managers and construction teams to ensure delivery on time, on budget, and to company standards Manage design coordination with architects, engineers, consultants, and regulatory agencies Drive entitlements, permitting, and approvals not yet secured by ownership Oversee budgeting, scheduling, GMP negotiations, and value engineering efforts Ensure effective project controls, reporting, and continuous process improvement Select and manage general contractors, subcontractors, and field personnel Serve as the primary point of accountability for project execution and outcomes Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field 15+ years of experience in construction/project management within real estate development 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director/VP level) Experience with multifamily Type V construction and single-family homebuilding Background in production homebuilding (50+ homes per project) Strong understanding of project controls, budgeting, scheduling, and construction sequencing Experience with financial analysis and construction planning preferred Senior living project experience a plus Additional Attributes California B contractor’s license preferred Strong communicator with excellent problem-solving skills Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to operate autonomously Comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment Experience working with municipalities and regulatory agencies Background in cost accounting, purchasing, and construction financing is a plus Motivated to play a key role in a growing company with direct impact on outcomes About Us Invision Community Builders is a privately held land development and homebuilding company based in Pasadena, CA.
