Primary Purpose The Director of Career Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for the development, administration, and continuous improvement of Career Services and Work-Based Learning (WBL) programs.This position is responsible for managing program operations, staff, and budgets, ensuring compliance with college and state guidelines, and advancing student success through career development, apprenticeship programs, and employer engagement.The director also represents the college in the community and actively participates in college governance, committees, and events that support institutional and student goals.Position Duties Lead and manage all aspects of Career Services program operations, including supervision of staff, budget oversight, and compliance with college and state guidelines.Develop and coordinate course offerings and training initiatives to support student career development.Provide career support for students through workshops, individual appointments, and job placement assistance.Maintain accurate program records for audit and reporting purposes.Promote career and apprenticeship opportunities through outreach to employers, students, and community stakeholders.Teach Work-Based Learning (WBL) courses as needed to support academic programs and enhance student career readiness.Actively participate in college governance by serving on designated committees and engaging with community boards and committees relevant to career services.Participate in college activities, including department and faculty/staff meetings, and assist with college-sponsored events.Perform other duties as assigned to support institutional and student success.Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.Five to seven years of professional experience in a relevant field.Demonstrated experience building and maintaining business and community partnerships.Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, staff, employers, and community stakeholders.Valid North Carolina driver's license.Preferred Qualifications Degree in Workforce Development, Technical Education/Training, Public Administration, Business, Marketing, Sales, Human Resources Management, or a related field.National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC).Supplemental Information Unofficial transcripts from all degree-granting, institutions must be electronically attached to your application or submitted to Human Resources before being considered for an interview.To be considered, all degrees must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution recognized by the United States Department of Education.Official transcripts for all coursework and degrees will be required within 30 days of hire.Foreign Degrees:Foreign degree evaluations must be attached in lieu of transcripts for degrees earned outside the United States.Transcripts from foreign institutions will not be considered alone.Foreign Credential Evaluation Services:Wayne Community College accepts foreign transcript evaluations only from The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
