Job Description
About Shippo At Shippo, our vision is bold and clear: we are the shipping layer of the internet. Our mission is to make every merchant successful through excellent shipping, delivering world-class logistics technology and infrastructure. We’re building the backbone of global e-commerce — connecting merchants to carriers worldwide through a single API and intuitive dashboard. As a remote-first and globally distributed team , we believe flexibility fuels trust, autonomy, and performance. Our diverse perspectives — across continents, cultures, and time zones — drive our innovation and enable us to build solutions used by businesses everywhere. We invest in modern, scalable technology so our teams can build, ship, and iterate with confidence. Your impact starts here: every person at Shippo plays a direct role in shaping the infrastructure that powers global commerce and makes shipping simpler for businesses around the world. How We Will Deliver Success Together Shippo’s core value proposition is providing e-commerce merchants with access to 50+ domestic and international shipping carriers through a single API, upon which we build and monetize different value-added services (label purchase, order management & fulfillment, insurance, etc.). Our global network of shipping carriers is therefore a crucial part of our success. We are looking for a Director of Carrier Partnerships to own and execute our carrier partnership strategy, starting with a pivotal, high-priority relationship with USPS and expanding across our carrier ecosystem. The ideal candidate is an executor first: someone who takes a long-term vision and drives it to reality through relentless cross-functional alignment, hands-on relationship management, and disciplined follow-through. This is a quarterback role at the highest level. You will be managing multiple high-priority carrier initiatives simultaneously, removing blockers, and ensuring momentum never stalls. A critical part of this role is driving internal alignment across Product, Engineering, Finance, and Legal — translating strategy into execution and keeping all the plates spinning. This role leads a small team and reports directly to the Senior Director. Shipping & Handling Responsibilities Own and deepen the strategic relationship with USPS and possibly other key national and international carriers, serving as Shippo’s primary point of contact and day-to-day driver of these partnerships. Serve as the internal quarterback for all carrier-related initiatives — coordinating across Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Operations to turn strategy into action and keep multiple workstreams moving simultaneously. Lead negotiations and close complex deals with major carriers, navigating multi-stakeholder environments and long deal cycles with persistence and precision. Collaborate with Product and Engineering to design, plan, and implement new carrier integrations and product offerings, translating carrier needs into internal roadmaps. Identify and drive internal and external process improvements that accelerate carrier onboarding, integration velocity, and long-term relationship health. Evolve carrier engagements from transactional dealmaking to deep, strategic partnerships — focused on long-term value creation for both Shippo and our carrier partners. Leverage AI tools and automation to streamline workflows and reduce repetitive, tactical work — both for yourself and your direct report — freeing the team to stay focused on high-value strategic priorities. Your Shipping Requirements 10+ years of experience at high-growth tech companies — ideally at the intersection of e-commerce and logistics (3PL/Fulfillment); direct parcel carrier experience required. Proven execution track record: demonstrated ability to take a vision and drive it to completion through cross-functional collaboration, internal alignment, and disciplined follow-through — not just strategy, but results. Direct, hands-on experience building and managing relationships with major parcel carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, regional carriers), with the ability to earn trust and navigate large, complex organizational structures is a huge plus. Exceptional ability to manage multiple high-priority carrier initiatives simultaneously without losing momentum or attention to detail — the ability to spin lots of plates is essential. Effective negotiation and closing skills in complex, multi-stakeholder deals with the persistence to see long deal cycles through to completion. Deep expertise in the domestic and global landscape of par
