Job Description
Job Summary The Director of Construction role is vital in ensuring the success of remodeling projects from beginning to end. Overseeing the entire construction process, the Director of Construction ensures that projects consistently meet deadlines and stay within budgetary constraints. The duties cover a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to leadership, oversight of construction schedules and carpentry teams, communication with clients, and maintaining quality standards. The Director of Construction directly supervises Project Directors, ensuring that they efficiently run 8-10 active projects. Duties/Responsibilities: · Project Oversight – Oversight of all project schedules, carpentry teams and subcontractors to ensure deadlines are met. · Budget Management – Oversight of project budgets to ensure proper management of financial resources and budget-related client communication. Maintain awareness of project cost variances and provide solutions/actions to avoid cost overruns. · Team Communication & Management – Leadership, management and accountability for Project Directors and construction teams. Direct and support team by providing guidance and training to ensure everyone has a clear understanding of their role and success measurements. Performs employee performance reviews for all Project Directors with the assistance of the Director of Strategic Growth and for all field team members with the assistance of the Project Directors. Additionally, maintain regular communication with design team, and subcontractors to maintain project clarity and team coordination. · Client Communication - Act as a leadership team resource for clients throughout construction phase. Ensure Project Directors keep clients informed of project progress and address concerns or changes orders promptly and effectively. · Motivation and Recognition - Motivate team members, recognize contributions, and provide feedback for performance improvement. · Subcontractor Communication – Maintain and communicate standards to all subcontractors. Assist with subcontractor adherence to insurance and financial documentation requirements. · Adherence to Company Procedures - Manage projects and team in accordance with company standards and procedural guidelines. Ensure that all Project Directors and field team members are fully utilizing Buildertrend. · Problem-Solving - Address challenges and unexpected issues that arise during projects, finding solutions to keep projects on track. · Safety Oversight - Maintain and ensure adherence to safety standards and guidelines on job sites. Required Skills/Abilities: · High school diploma. · 10+ years of experience in home remodeling and construction management. · Excellent interpersonal skills. · Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to make decisions under pressure. · Clear verbal and written communication skills. · Ability to lead and manage teams effectively, providing clear direction and support while maintaining a positive and engaging work atmosphere with a good sense of humor. · Thorough understanding of scopes of work, contracts, plans, and specifications. Proficient in Microsoft applications including Outlook. Excellent organizational abilities to coordinate schedules, tasks, and resources efficiently. · Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change. · Possess strong critical thinking skills to effectively address challenges and find solutions quickly. Adept at decision-making abilities, especially under pressure, and exhibit proficiency in multitasking. Success Measurements: · Project Performance - Ensures projects are completed on time, within scope, and in accordance with projected costs, minimizing setbacks and re-works. Manages material and human resources to optimize performance and outcomes. · Client Satisfaction - Consistently high scores on construction-related client satisfaction surveys, demonstrating commitment to meeting client needs. · Communication Effectiveness - Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and sustained collaboration across all KCBR departments to ensure success on each project. Effectively communicates with clients, management, and team members, solving problems constructively and proactively.
