Development Director (full-time, salary) The MISSION of the Flathead Warming Center is to save lives, link people to resources, and encourage dignity through low-barrier access to a warm safe place for those in need. Position Overview Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Development Director leads all aspects of the Flathead Warming Center’s development and fundraising efforts. The primary focus of this position is to strengthen, expand, and diversify revenue streams — evaluating current strategies, developing new opportunities, and building sustainable funding pathways that allow the Flathead Warming Center to serve our community. This role oversees donor relations, fundraising campaigns, grants, our annual fundraising event, and all initiatives that support the financial health and growth of the organization. While support systems are in place, the Development Director holds ultimate responsibility for ensuring these functions are successful and aligned with our mission. Key Responsibilities Develop, execute, and evaluate the Flathead Warming Center's annual development plan and revenue projections. Establish annual and quarterly fundraising goals by funding stream. Evaluate results, and provide updates to the board quarterly. Determine fundraising strategies for each of our donor segments (individuals, corporations, churches, foundations, etc). Systematically identify donors in each segment and cultivate real and meaningful relationships with each to achieve fundraising goals for each funding stream. Intentionally, strategically, and consistently engage with individuals, professionals, community leaders, and community members to build strong, trust‑based relationships that advance the mission of the Flathead Warming Center. Demonstrate comfort and enthusiasm in a wide range of interactions, including cold calls, spontaneous conversations, scheduled meetings, and ongoing donor touchpoints. Maintain a high level of visibility in the community, serving as a positive ambassador for the organization. Dive deep into donor development, stewardship, and long‑term donor relations. Cultivate meaningful connections that lead to sustained financial support and increased community investment in our mission. Additional Responsibilities: With support from additional organizational resources where appropriate Oversee logistics when donations are received, such as: depositing checks, tracking donations in DonorSnap, acknowledging gifts, and interfacing with our finance team on donation-related questions. Plan, implement, and oversee our annual fundraising event, a dance competition called Soles of the Flathead (also known as our “gala”). This includes making revenue projections, soliciting and managing event sponsors; driving ticket sales and in-kind donations, and working alongside event committees to assist in carrying out the event. Responsible for achieving financial goals for the Soles of the Flathead event. Develop and manage fundraising campaigns including The Great Fish Community Challenge, our InnKeeper monthly giving program, and annual Donation Plea letters. Oversee other aspects of FWC marketing, social media and public relations that shape perceptions of prospective donors. This includes managing the FWC website, keeping Charity Navigator and Candid up to date with strong ratings, posting relevant development updates on social media, and producing our newsletters and annual Stewardship Report. Support Executive Director and external grant-writing resources on strategy and execution of grants. Establish and document policies and procedures for the primary responsibilities of the position as described above. Additional duties may be assigned periodically by the Executive Director. All employees are expected to collaborate effectively with other Flathead Warming Center team members and third party providers, and to represent the Flathead Warming Center in a positive and professional manner at all times as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
