Job Description
Please include a cover letter (attached to your resume) describing your interest in AIPN and any experience building active grassroots campaigns from scratch. Location: Washington, D.C. (hybrid) Compensation: $115,000-140,000 Reports to: Executive Director I. Position Summary The Director of Digital Organizing is a senior role responsible for building and running AIPN's grassroots program in support of our mission to prepare America for artificial superintelligence and advance responsible AI policy. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Communications Director, and the Government Affairs team, this position owns AIPN's email and SMS program, paid and organic digital advertising, and the constituent activation systems that bring in-district engagement to our Capitol Hill advocacy efforts. The ideal candidate brings a demonstrated record of building grassroots campaigns from scratch; experience managing an active digital presence through social media, ads, email, and SMS; and fluency with constituent activation tools. II. Responsibilities A. Grassroots Network and Constituent Activation Build and manage AIPN's email and SMS program end-to-end, in collaboration with the engineering team — including writing, sending, segmentation, list growth, and deliverability. Stand up and operate a rapid-response constituent activation system that drives calls, emails, and direct contact from AIPN supporters into Capitol Hill offices in coordination with the Government Affairs team. Manage AIPN's grassroots vendors, including email-to-Congress and SMS platforms. Own data hygiene, A/B testing, attribution, and reporting dashboards for the grassroots program. B. Paid and Organic Digital Run AIPN's organic social presence across relevant platforms, in coordination with the Communications Director. Develop and execute AIPN's paid digital advertising strategy. Set performance benchmarks and report regularly on grassroots and digital program outcomes. C. Cross-Functional and Coalition Support Coordinate closely with Government Affairs to time activations against legislative windows, markups, floor action, and other strategic moments. Work with Communications on message consistency across earned, owned, and paid channels. Liaise with allied advocacy organizations and grassroots networks aligned with AIPN's policy priorities. Support in-person events, as well as website and CMS maintenance (as capacity allows). III. Qualifications A. Required 3-7+ years of grassroots, digital, or advocacy experience on political campaigns or in nonprofit advocacy. Demonstrated track record building a grassroots program from scratch. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write supporter-facing email and SMS copy under deadline. Based in or willing to relocate to the D.C. area; this is a hybrid role reporting to our Capitol Hill office at least once per week. B. Preferred Hands-on experience with at least one constituent activation platform (e.g., Quorum, Phone2Action/CQ, Action Network, EveryAction, or comparable). Experience managing paid digital media budgets across Meta, Google, programmatic, or comparable channels. Experience running coalition-based advocacy. Familiarity with website and CMS administration (Wordpress preferred). Exposure to AI policy and/or national security policy. IV. About AIPN The AI Policy Network (AIPN) is a bipartisan, independent 501(c)(4) advocacy organization dedicated to preparing America for the era of artificial superintelligence. We provide policymakers with technically grounded perspectives on emerging AI capabilities and risks, with particular focus on ensuring advanced AI systems remain reliable, controllable, and aligned with their intended purposes.
