Director of Engineering — On-site ABOUT THE COMPANY A privately held global company (approximately 150 employees) that develops rugged, feature-rich tools for HVACR professionals, including meters, manifolds, leak detectors, pumps, and calibration tools. We have an established international footprint and develop products for a global market. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred. 10+ years of sustained, technical, hands-on R&D leadership delivering shipped, revenue-generating products from concept through commercialization (consumer products, consumer electronics, electromechanical, medical devices, measurement tools) Demonstrated strong tenure, continuous self-development , and end-to-end product ownership. Proven success scaling and mentoring high-performing , matrixed engineering teams ( Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware ), with a track record of developing engineers into technical leaders . Deep experience leading new product development and commercial launches while managing and influencing supplier and ODM partnerships. Demonstrated capability in strategic planning, budgeting , and performance management aligned to multi-year product roadmaps. Responsibilities: Lead innovative product-focused development efforts, driving design, prototyping, testing, validation, and accountability through commercialization. Define and execute long-term engineering and technical strategies that deliver a sustainable pipeline of differentiated products. Build organizational capacity and technical depth by coaching, mentoring, and advancing engineers while strengthening core design and development competencies. Manage budgets, resources, development processes, metrics, and strategic priorities across multiple concurrent product programs. Strengthen and leverage relationships with ODMs and strategic suppliers to expand product innovation capacity and accelerate time-to-market. Develop, manage, and oversee the end-to-end R&D budget to support scalable product commercialization.
