Job Description
ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance. All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside’s Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office. Heaviside is backed by Interlagos, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, Anorak Ventures, and Ravelin Ventures. WHAT YOU WILL DO Build and own Heaviside’s FP&A function — the operating model, forecast, budget, and the analytics that drive how we spend and invest Drive the annual planning and quarterly re-forecast cycles end-to-end across engineering, manufacturing, programs, and G&A Build a unit-economics view of every program: cost per munition, cost-to-produce curves, learning rates, and margin at scale Partner with engineering and operations leaders as a true business partner — challenge plans, pressure-test assumptions, and translate technical reality into financial reality Own management reporting: monthly financials, KPI dashboards, and the variance narratives that go to the executive team and board Lead capital planning: cash forecasting, capex prioritization, financing scenarios, and runway management Build the program-finance discipline: contract economics, milestone tracking, EAC/ETC analysis, and government-contract cost compliance partnership Hire and grow a high-leverage FP&A team; replace spreadsheets with real systems on a sane timeline WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA or CPA a plus 10+ years of progressive finance experience with deep FP&A focus, ideally a mix of high-growth tech, hardware, aerospace and defense, or manufacturing Production experience building three-statement operating models from scratch and running them as living tools, not one-time decks Track record as a real business partner to engineering and operations — not a reporter, a co-pilot Strong grasp of hardware unit economics: BOM, labor, overhead absorption, learning curves, and cost-down trajectories Comfortable in a venture-backed environment with rapid scaling, evolving systems, and shifting priorities Hands-on with modern finance tooling (NetSuite, Adaptive, Pigment, Mosaic, or equivalent) and willing to set it up yourself when needed Familiarity with government-contract finance (FAR, DCAA, CAS) is a strong plus; willingness to learn it fast is required U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62) Additional Information: Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan. To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
