Job description: The Director of Human Resources is responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing execution of core HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, payroll oversight, workers’ compensation, return‑to‑work programs, compliance, and organizational development. This role serves as a key member of the Leadership Team, partnering closely with leaders to support business objectives while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high‑performance workplace culture. The Director is accountable for HR outcomes across the organization and for leading and developing the HR function and team. Key Responsibilities Strategic HR Leadership Develop, align, and drive HR strategies and initiatives with organizational goals and values Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on employeerelated matters Analyze workforce trends and HR metrics to inform decision‑making Contribute as an active Leadership Team member, supporting enterprisewide strategy, culture, and business performance Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Direct recruiting, interviewing, and selection processes Partner with leaders on workforce planning and succession development Oversee onboarding programs to ensure a strong employee experience across all shifts Employee Relations & Engagement Address employee concerns, conduct investigations, and ensure fair and timely resolution Promote employee engagement, morale, and retention strategies Coach managers on effective employee management and conflict resolution Performance Management & Development Direct the organization’s performance management strategy and manage performance review processes and goalsetting frameworks Support leadership and employee development initiatives Identify training needs and oversee enterprise learning and development programs Payroll, Compensation & Benefits Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance Direct and administer compensation programs and benefit offerings Ensure pay practices are competitive, equitable, and aligned with company policy Workers’ Compensation & Return‑to‑Work Programs Oversee workers’ compensation claims, including reporting, documentation, and coordination with carriers Develop and administer return‑to‑work and modified duty programs Partner with managers to facilitate safe, timely, and effective employee transitions back to work Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations Maintain personnel policies, employee handbooks, and HR procedures Manage audits, reporting, and employment‑related records and documentation Corporate Culture Reinforce company values and a respectful, safe workplace culture Lead enterprise change management and continuous improvement initiatives Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field 1012+ years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, payroll oversight, and compliance Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices Proven ability to partner with senior leadership and influence organizational outcomes Demonstrated experience leading HR teams and driving organizational strategy Preferred Qualifications Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP) Experience managing workers’ compensation and return‑to‑work programs Experience in manufacturing, operations, or multi‑site environments HRIS, payroll system, and HR analytics experience Key Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills High degree of judgment, confidentiality, and professionalism Problemsolving and conflict resolution skills Organizational and project management capability Continuous improvement mindset Strategic leadership and enterprise thinking
