Salary: $225,000 – $285,000 Job Title: Director of Medical Services Job #: 5855 Location: Latham, NY Category: Medical Position Type: Full-time, Direct Hire Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Medical Services to lead day-to-day clinical operations in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital setting. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, consistent patient care while supporting and developing the clinical team. Responsibilities Include: Oversee daily clinical operations across all services to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care. Collaborate with hospital leadership, Chiefs of Service, and staff to optimize workflows and team performance. Monitor caseload distribution, patient flow, and resource utilization; address bottlenecks and coverage gaps. Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, medical standards, and regulatory requirements. Provide real-time clinical guidance and support to clinical and non-clinical staff. Lead, mentor, and manage eight (8) departments, including performance management and professional development. Support onboarding, training, and mentorship of new doctors. Partner with Human Resources on performance reviews, employee relations, and corrective actions. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Address and resolve team conflicts and promote strong cross-departmental communication. Review medical cases, client concerns, and adverse events; escalate issues as appropriate. Implement hospital-wide medical policies, protocols, and new clinical initiatives. Support adoption of new technologies, workflows, and medical programs. Serve as a primary point of contact and liaison between clinical staff and leadership. Participate in leadership meetings and provide clinical and operational insight. Qualifications: DVM, VMD, or equivalent international degree from an accredited institution. Residency training and board certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role (e.g., Chief of Service, Senior Clinician). At least 5 years of experience in a 24-hour specialty/emergency referral hospital. Demonstrated ability to manage people, workflows, and clinical operations. Strong knowledge of standards of care and regulatory requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven leadership, coaching, and team management abilities. Ability to manage conflict and provide constructive feedback. Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills. High level of professionalism, accountability, and confidentiality. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high ethical and medical standards.
