Position Summary The Asphalt Director of Operations is a senior operations leadership role responsible for the overall management, performance, profitability, safety, quality, production, and strategic execution of ESI’s asphalt paving operations. This position provides leadership and oversight for asphalt field operations, asphalt foremen, superintendents, crew performance, production planning, trucking coordination, equipment utilization, asphalt plant coordination, and operational execution across all assigned paving projects. The Asphalt Director of Operations serves as the operational leader for asphalt paving activities and is responsible for translating company goals into field execution strategies that maximize production, efficiency, quality, safety, workforce development, and profitability. This role works closely with Executive Leadership, Project Management, Superintendents, Estimating, Equipment, Safety, Quality Control, and Asphalt Field Leadership to ensure operational success across all asphalt paving operations. The Asphalt Director of Operations is expected to maintain a strong field presence while driving accountability, operational consistency, leadership development, and continuous improvement throughout the asphalt division. Essential Functions Provide overall operational leadership for asphalt paving operations across multiple projects and crews while overseeing asphalt foremen, superintendents, crew leaders, and asphalt field personnel Establish operational standards, production expectations, quality benchmarks, accountability measures, and execution strategies that improve production efficiency, scheduling performance, workforce effectiveness, and profitability Serve as the operational bridge between executive leadership, project management, and field execution teams to ensure paving operations are properly staffed, equipped, scheduled, coordinated, and aligned with project goals and production targets Oversee asphalt production planning, paving sequencing, trucking logistics, equipment deployment, labor utilization, and operational execution across all assigned paving projects Lead, mentor, train, and develop asphalt superintendents, foremen, and field leaders while establishing clear performance expectations and accountability for safety, production, quality, operational execution, and workforce development Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, retention, succession planning, employee development, and leadership growth initiatives within the asphalt division Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to develop production schedules, sequencing plans, operational priorities, and resource allocation strategies Monitor paving productivity, tonnage targets, crew performance, schedule adherence, operational efficiency, and labor performance while identifying and resolving bottlenecks, delays, trucking inefficiencies, and coordination issues Ensure paving operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and operational expectations while maintaining continuous paving operations with minimal downtime and interruptions Lead and enforce ESI’s safety culture across all asphalt paving operations while ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, company policies, and all applicable safety regulations Hold field leadership accountable for conducting JHAs/JSAs, toolbox talks, safety meetings, daily safety planning, PPE compliance, safe tra
