Role Description We are hiring a Director of Research to lead investment research, thematic development, and market intelligence at YXS Capital. This is a high-impact role for someone who combines deep analytical rigor with independent thinking and the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights. You will operate at the center of the firm’s investment process, working directly with the Managing Partners and investment team to develop forward-looking theses, analyze markets, and support conviction-building across all investment decisions. This is not a passive research role — your work will directly influence how capital is deployed. This role is designed for candidates who think in systems, understand markets at a deep level, and want to shape the intellectual foundation of a high-performance investment platform. Responsibilities Thematic Research & Investment Theses: Lead the development of investment themes across sectors including AI, energy, robotics, defense, and financial technology. Identify structural trends, market inflection points, and areas of asymmetric opportunity. Market Intelligence & Analysis: Maintain a deep understanding of market dynamics, including capital flows, valuation trends, and competitive landscapes. Translate complex data into clear, structured insights that inform investment decisions. Investment Support & Conviction Building: Support live deals through industry analysis, competitive mapping, and independent research. Contribute directly to building high-conviction investment decisions. Research Output & Thought Leadership: Produce high-quality research, internal reports, and external-facing materials aligned with YXS Capital’s positioning. Ensure all outputs meet a high standard of clarity, structure, and analytical depth. Research Infrastructure: Build and maintain research frameworks, knowledge systems, and internal tools that improve consistency and quality across the investment process. Ad Hoc & Cross-Functional Support: Contribute across the firm on strategic, operational, and internal initiatives aligned with ongoing priorities. ‍ What We're Looking For Research and Analytical Experience: 6–10+ years in equity research, venture capital, investment banking, consulting, or similar analytical roles. Strong exposure to technology sectors preferred. Intellectual Rigor: Ability to break down complex problems, synthesize large amounts of information, and develop clear, independent perspectives. Market Understanding: Deep interest in technology, macro trends, and market dynamics. Ability to connect high-level trends to specific investment opportunities. Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication. Ability to present insights in a clear, structured, and decision-oriented manner. Ownership Mindset: Self-directed and accountable. Comfortable forming opinions and contributing to high-stakes decisions. Interest in Venture Capital: Strong curiosity about emerging technologies and how markets evolve over time. Is This You?
