Job Description
The Linchpin Co. is a people operations group offering custom recruitment and consulting services. We will be the point of contact between you and Rainmaker and will act as your trusted advisor and coach. We look forward to your interest. Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to address water scarcity by integrating radar validation, weather-resistant UAS technology, and numerical weather modeling to make water more abundant. As Director of Ski Resort Partnerships, this person will lead the commercial adoption of Rainmaker’s snowpack enhancement services across ski resorts throughout the Western United States. The role focuses on identifying, developing, and managing partnerships with ski resort operators that benefit from increased snowfall and extended ski seasons, while translating Rainmaker’s proven technology into compelling business value for the ski industry. What You’ll Do Identify and qualify ski resort prospects across the Western US whose operations and revenue are directly impacted by snowfall volume and season length Build and manage a regional pipeline of partnership opportunities from initial outreach through contract execution Develop commercial deal structures including service agreements, outcome-based pricing, cost-sharing models, and multi-resort funding partnerships Engage ski resort operators, mountain resort groups, and resort municipalities as both customers and co-investors in snowpack enhancement programs Partner with Rainmaker’s Government Affairs team to identify public-private partnership opportunities tied to watershed and snowpack funding initiatives Build coalitions between ski resorts, local water authorities, and watershed stakeholders within mountain basins to support collaborative funding structures Develop strategic partnerships with winter sports brands and athlete influencers to increase awareness of Rainmaker and cloud seeding initiatives within the ski industry Organize and lead site visits, demonstrations, and technical briefings for prospective resort partners and investors Qualifications 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships within the ski and mountain resort industry, outdoor recreation, water resources, or environmental services across the Western US Proven success sourcing, structuring, and closing complex B2B and/or B2G partnerships, ideally related to resort operations, infrastructure, environmental services, or resource management Strong understanding of Western water economics and snowpack dynamics, including water rights, basin hydrology, drought conditions, and water management institutions Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-functional startup environment with both strategic and hands-on responsibilities Bachelor’s degree required; advanced education in business, economics, water resources, environmental science, hospitality management, or related fields is considered an asset Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% throughout the Western US for meetings, conferences, and site visits Additional Information Onsite El Segundo, CA Willingness and ability to travel (approximately 50% or more) in support of legislative sessions, stakeholder engagements, and project site visits $150,000 + commission (OTE $300,000) Health - 100% employee, 70% for dependents 401K - 4% match after 1 year Unlimited PTO Equity: 10-15% of total comp
