Job Title: Director of Student Services FLSA Status: Exempt, 226 Days Reports to: Executive Director of Student Services Pay Grade: AD-7 Dept./School: Administration Date Revised: 06/12/2023 Primary Purpose: To supervise and help administer the Districts discipline program, student attendance and transfers as well as to provide sound educational support for BISD campuses and students. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Masters degreeTexas Teaching CertificatePrincipal Certification Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of federal and state education lawKnowledge of special education and Section 504 regulations and lawsUnderstanding of the individual needs of studentsAbility to communicate effectively with staff, parents and the communityAbility to implement policy and proceduresAbility to interpret dataAbility to manage budget and personnelStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Three (3) years of administrative experience Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Supervise the activities of the Districts attendance officers and audits school attendanceprocedures. Provide guidance to principals regarding registration and attendance matters.2. Assist with Districts professional development program in the area of discipline and audit schooldisciplinary procedures.3. Coordinate with campuses regarding operations and revises the Districts Student Code of Conductand Parent / Student Handbooks.4. Serves as the Districts Hearing Officer for expulsions as well as the liaison to JJAEP.5. Research parent complaints regarding student-related problems and respond to parents.6. Evaluate and determine eligibility of student transfer (intra-district and inter-district) requests.7. Serve as the liaison with city and county juvenile justice officials.8. Maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information.9. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of assigned staff.
