Read more about life at GridStor at: https://gridstor.com/careers/ Role Summary: GridStor is seeking a Director of Transmission & Interconnection , with a strong focus on Large Electronic Loads (data centers, AI infrastructure, hyperscale facilities, and other high-density industrial loads). The Director will perform as the transmission and interconnection interface for M&A, Development, EPC, Project Finance, Asset Management, and Commercial. This role will enable the commercial success of the projects through integration of interconnection strategy with project acquisition decisions, commercial structuring, financial modeling assumptions and EPC contracting and execution strategy. Key Responsibilities: Provide interconnection expertise throughout acquisition, development and construction phases of the GridStor’s ERCOT projects. Track interconnection and transmission regulatory compliance trends and changes and working with GridStor’s head of policy to inform and represent GridStor priorities. Represent GridStor’s priorities on ERCOT interconnection rulemaking processes, working groups, planning guide revisions, and protocols, for storage, Controllable Load Resources (CLRs), and Large Electronic Loads. Drive technical strategy for Front-of-the-Meter (FTM), Behind-the-Meter (BTM) storage, and large load interconnection efforts in alignment with commercial objectives Lead technical strategy for storage paired with large loads under various operating paradigms (non-export, limited export, hybrid, CLR-enabled structures). Partner with commercial business development functions to bring technical solutions to customers Oversee power system model planning and execution, including PSS®E, PowerWorld, PSCAD, and ASPEN. Provide transmission and interconnection diligence for acquisition opportunities Develop and implement transmission and interconnection risk mitigation plans throughout the project development lifecycle. Lead engagement with ERCOT, TSPs, consultants, and regulatory stakeholders. Manage external technical consultants and study providers. Ensure GridStor maintains a strong technical reputation within ERCOT stakeholder processes. Prepare executive-level materials for senior leadership review. Qualifications & Competencies: Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline (Master’s degree preferred). Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in transmission planning, interconnection, or power systems engineering at a utility, ISO/RTO, consulting firm, data center, or independent power producer. Direct experience advancing projects through the ERCOT interconnection process. Demonstrated experience managing complex projects from early-stage development through commercial operation. Familiarity with ERCOT Large Load Working Group (LLWG) discussions and evolving regulatory frameworks for large electronic loads and CLR participation. Experience supporting commercial negotiations with technical diligence. Experience working across Development, EPC, M&A, and Project Finance teams. Strong knowledge of ERCOT transmission planning frameworks. Technical Skills: Proficiency in power system modeling tools (PSS®E, PowerWorld, PSCAD, ASPEN) and production cost models (UPLAN, PLEXOS). Location & Availability: Preference to be based in Portland, OR on a hybrid schedule, will consider other locations/remote. Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detail. Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and seeing delegated projects through to completion.
