The Open Clinical Team within L'Oréal's Advanced Research department spearheads the exploration and development of cutting-edge clinical discoveries. Our mission is to bring to market new, highly effective technologies and active ingredients through extensive global collaboration. We are looking for a capable Open Clinical Team Director to lead this team and onboard on this thrilling adventure. This role reports out of our Clark, New Jersey R&I Center. A Day in the Life: As the Director of Open Clinical Innovation, your responsibilities will include: Clinical Leadership: Manage a clinician team through the full cycle of clinical study management. Review scientific data and propose, design, and execute new protocols for human efficacy clinical studies (cosmetic ingredients, consumer/medical devices, and other new technologies) within budget and critical timelines. Global Integration: Manage close collaborations with the global Early Clinical teams and integrate smoothly with fellow clinicians, data managers, and statistical teams across international hubs. Strategic Partnerships: Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external partners (CROs, global Advanced Research, Safety, Regulatory Affairs, and Technology Incubators). Collaborate with evaluation functions including Preclinical, Clinical Operations, and Bioinstrumentation teams across the USA, France, Brazil, and Asia. External Network Expansion: Identify and expand external partnerships with CROs and establish new collaborations with leading Dermatologists and Academic Researchers, with a focus on imaging technology and digital innovation. Scientific Authority: Act as a key scientific lead in proof-of-concept testing, translating early-stage technologies into innovative products for our consumers. We Are Looking For: You are an inspirational leader who can influence first-in-class beauty innovations. Education: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical/Cosmetic Sciences, or an MD is required. Experience 7-10 years of relevant experience in a related scientific field. 5-7 years of experience specifically managing Human Clinical Studies in the pharmaceutical, OTC, or personal care industries. Scientific Expertise: In-depth knowledge of skin biology, hair biology, and dermatology. Strong working knowledge of dermatologist procedures, medical aesthetics, regulatory affairs, skin pathology, or regenerative medicine. Clinical Rigor: Solid understanding of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and FDA guidelines. Experience working with CROs and a working knowledge of evaluation methods (instrumental and clinical) and diagnostic tools. Managerial Skills: Excellent managerial, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to navigate, problem-solve, and lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Travel: Available for travel (~10%), both domestic and international.
