Premera is seeking a strategic, people-centered Director, Regulatory Compliance to evolve and enhance our enterprise-wide Compliance Program. This role will shape how we anticipate and respond to a complex and changing regulatory environment—while building a strong culture of ethics, integrity, and accountability across Premera and our third-party partners. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence business decisions, guide executive leaders, and ensure our work supports Premera’s mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. What you’ll do: Set strategy and lead enterprise compliance Lead the design, development, and implementation of an enterprise-wide program to monitor compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including services delivered by third parties. Provide strategic direction and insight to advance a modern, effective compliance program aligned to business priorities and risk. Provide oversight of regulatory relationship building. Promote a culture of integrity while keeping Premera compliant on the ever-changing regulatory and legal requirements Maintain deep knowledge of laws, regulations, enforcement priorities, and industry compliance risks relevant to Premera. Monitor external trends and emerging risks and advise leadership on proactive mitigation strategies. Lead enterprise communication and training programs that reinforce ethical decision-making and compliance—internally and across third parties. Advise executives and manage complex, sensitive matters Collaborate closely with senior leaders and officers to embed values and compliance into strategy, operations, and third-party relationships. Develop practical, business-oriented solutions to reduce exposure to fines, penalties, litigation, and reputational harm. Partner with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Human Resources, and others on sensitive reviews and investigations. Oversee regulatory inquiries and investigations Serve as a primary contact for state and federal regulators on compliance inquiries and investigations and oversee responses to audits and examinations. Track investigations and corrective actions, using data to identify trends and deliver clear, executive-ready reporting to leadership and the Board. Lead and develop a high-performing team Lead, coach, and grow a team of compliance professionals who provide trusted consulting, monitoring, and investigative support to internal stakeholders and third parties. What you’ll bring Bachelor’s degree or four years of equivalent work experience. Eight years of management experience or 8 years in a related legal, regulatory, or compliance monitoring field. Additional preferred experiences/ skills include: Experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, finance, government). Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships at all levels, including executives, in complex organizations. Experience working in a government regulatory agency, particularly in an agency that regulates healthcare and/or health insurance. Juris Doctor (JD).
