Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS)

JOB This Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) position supports the organization’s mission of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating communicable disease surveillance and control programs within Delaware County. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Coordinates, plans, and directs surveillance and case investigations/partner services and follow-up of communicable disease cases reported in Delaware County utilizing information from the Pennsylvania National Electronic Data Surveillance System (PA-NEDSS) in accordance with program guidanceProvides public health guidance and information in accordance with program guidanceAlerts the Supervisor to requests for information and potential media news items related to communicable disease programsMaintains professional competencies and skills through participation in educational programs, seminars, conferences, meetings, and webinars approved by the SupervisorAssists Supervisor in training and mentoring newly hired staff to provide capacity building and skill-building opportunities for them to perform the duties of this positionOther related duties as assigned
