Door, Gate & Access Control Technician Commercial Industrial Automatic Doors & Gates Access Control Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Door, Gate & Access Control Technician to join our team.The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience servicing commercial and industrial door systems, gate operators, and access control equipment.While we handle new installations and retrofits, the majority of our work is service, troubleshooting, and repair -- making strong diagnostic skills essential.This role requires mechanical and low voltage electrical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on-site.We work with a wide range of equipment including swing gate operators, slide gate operators, barrier arm gates, overhead doors, automatic sliding and swinging doors, and pedestrian access control systems.Familiarity with major manufacturer platforms -- such as LiftMaster, FAAC, CAME, BEA, HySecurity, Dorma, ASSA Abloy, or Stanley -- is a strong plus.Key Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial doors, gates, and operators -- including sliding gate operators, swing gate operators, overhead doors, automatic sliding doors, and automatic swinging doors.Service, program, and replace access control components including keypads, card readers, key fobs, proximity readers, intercoms, and telephone entry systems.Diagnose and repair automatic door and gate systems -- including safety sensors, loop detectors, photoeyes, control panels, and 24V/12V low voltage wiring.Perform barrier arm gate and bollard system service, replacement, and preventive maintenance.Execute door and gate operator retrofits and replacements, including upgrading legacy systems to current manufacturer platforms.Conduct heavy lifting, precise alignment, and secure mounting during installations and repairs.Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics for proper system setup and troubleshooting.Fabricate, weld, or modify components for custom fits and field repairs.Ensure all work meets local safety codes, ADA requirements, and company quality standards.Deliver clear communication and excellent customer service when working on-site at commercial and industrial facilities.Maintain accurate work orders, parts documentation, and job site records.Requirements Proven hands-on experience in commercial/industrial door, gate, or access control service -- including automatic door technician, gate operator technician, or access control technician roles.Strong mechanical and low voltage electrical troubleshooting skills.Experience with automatic door/gate systems, operators, control panels, and associated hardware.Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics accurately.Familiarity with manufacturer platforms such as LiftMaster, FAAC, CAME, BEA, HySecurity, Dorma, ASSA Abloy, or Stanley is a strong plus.AAADM (American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers) certification is a plus.Welding, fabrication, and light electrical experience is a plus.Valid driver's license and clean driving record required for travel between job sites.Comfortable performing heavy lifting and working in varied commercial and industrial environments.If you are passionate about delivering high-quality service in the door, gate, and access control industry -- or ready to launch a rewarding trade career with paid training -- we want to hear from you.Job Type:Full-time Pay:$20.00 - $45.00 per hour Benefits:401(k) matching Company truck Dental insurance Fuel card Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Application Question(s):What are your expectations for pay?
