Job Description
Job Title: Drama Therapist Department: Behavioral Health Status: Full-Time Exempt (Hours may vary, including evenings and weekends) Location: 6374 Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60659 Reports To: Director of Behavioral Health Compensation: $55K to $75K (Based on Experience) Midwest Refuah Health Center (MRHC) is seeking a Drama Therapist to join its integrated behavioral health team. In this role, you will work with clients individually and in group settings at Midwest Refuah and at our partner sites. Your clinical work will be done utilizing drama-based interventions, storytelling, role play, and creative expression to support mental health and emotional well-being. You will collaborate closely with the behavioral health team to develop treatment plans, assess progress, and contribute to an integrated care approach. Your work will support clients across the lifespan in a culturally sensitive environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide individual and group drama therapy sessions tailored to the needs of each client. Utilize evidence-based drama therapy interventions to promote emotional regulation, self-expression, communication skills, cognitive function, and social development. Facilitate therapeutic activities such as role play, improvisation, storytelling, performance-based exercises, and creative arts interventions. Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the care team. Monitor and document client progress using clinical documentation standards. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including therapists, social workers, and medical providers, to ensure holistic care. Participate in case consultations and clinical team meetings. Complete all assigned paperwork accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner, including grant-related documentation if required. Provide supervision or mentorship to interns as assigned. Engage in ongoing professional development and training. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Qualifications: Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) or Board Certified Trainer (BCT) through the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA) preferred. Illinois licensure (or eligibility for licensure) Master’s degree in Drama Therapy, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Expressive Arts Therapy, or a related field. Experience providing therapeutic services in mental health, behavioral health, school, hospital, or community-based settings preferred. Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions in drama therapy and expressive arts. Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication. Cultural sensitivity, particularly toward the Orthodox Jewish community. Ability to manage a diverse caseload independently and adapt therapy techniques to various populations.
