Job Description The Drillers’ Helper is responsible for performing manual labor tasks including maintaining the drilling rigs and equipment at various sites. This is a position with a rotational schedule working four (4) weeks on / two (2) weeks off. Responsibilities Help move drilling rigs and equipment from site to site, set up in the new site and connect power cables or hoses for water and air supply. Help obtain high-quality drilling core samples. Assist drillers with all drilling processes. Mix and test drilling fluids, chemicals, and grout. Assist with slotting, welding, and inserting casing screens. Operate equipment such as pumps for air, water, and mud. Carry out routine maintenance and repairs. Clean and maintain equipment, as well as drill and camp sites. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned. Qualifications 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 1 season as Drill Helper on either a hollow stem auger, casing advance, diamond core and/or air rotary drilling Ability to work in remote areas under difficult conditions. Ability to take and pass a pre-employment drug test required. Previous working experience with related machinery. Strong technical aptitude with tools and related equipment. Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint.
