Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Drilling Operations Manager to oversee daily geotechnical drilling operations, manage field crews, maintain drilling equipment, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical drilling operations along with solid mechanical knowledge related to drilling rigs, hydraulic systems, and equipment maintenance. This role requires leadership in field operations, coordination with project managers and clients, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Manage and supervise geotechnical drilling operations across multiple job sites. Coordinate scheduling, mobilization, and execution of drilling projects. Lead drilling crews and provide technical guidance and operational support. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards. Monitor drilling productivity, project timelines, and operational costs. Troubleshoot drilling equipment and coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance. Oversee maintenance of drilling rigs, support vehicles, pumps, hydraulic systems, and related equipment. Review borehole logs, field reports, and drilling documentation for accuracy and completeness. Work closely with engineers, geologists, project managers, and clients to ensure project requirements are met. Conduct field inspections and quality control assessments. Manage inventory of drilling tools, consumables, and spare parts. Assist with equipment procurement and fleet management. Train and mentor drilling personnel on operational procedures and safety practices. Support bidding, project planning, and operational improvements when needed. Qualifications Experience in geotechnical drilling operations. Prior experience in a supervisory or management role preferred. Strong knowledge of geotechnical drilling methods including: Hollow stem auger drilling Mud rotary drilling Rock coring SPT sampling CPT operations (preferred) Solid mechanical background with the ability to troubleshoot and oversee repair of drilling equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, pumps, compressors, and rig maintenance. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, drilling plans, and project specifications. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
