Job Description
(title dependent on level of experience) This is an exciting opportunity to join Candlewick Press, Holiday House and Peachtree, some of the world’s leading publishers of books and content for young readers, renowned for truly original publishing and outstanding quality. We are seeking a creative and organized Marketing Assistant or Coordinator (depending on the candidate’s prior level of experience) to support our Education and Library Marketing Team. Reporting to a Marketing Manager, this role will be responsible for a variety of marketing efforts, including conference planning, creation of marketing materials, advertising trafficking, social media content creation, and other duties as needed. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: Conference planning: key team member in planning and logistics (including author travel) attending multiple trade conferences each year Advertising trafficking: with team, book advertising; work with design team on ads; liaise with outlets and manage schedule. Awards submissions: with team, track and submit for multiple industry and state awards each year, including liaising with committee members, selecting titles for submission, and communicating with creators on submissions Educator materials & reading group guides: liaising with and commissioning materials; routing internally; submitting to various sites and outlets for inclusion Newsletters: creating & maintaining content calendar for monthly educator/librarian newsletters Prepare agendas, powerpoint presentations for various internal and external meetings In-office mailings and other administrative tasks as needed Requirements: Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and other computer applications is required A strong sense of prioritization, attention to detail and great communication skills Exceptional organizational skills, including juggling multiple projects Experience working in either children’s book publishing; a library; classroom; literacy organization (for Coordinator level: 2-3 years, for Assistant level: 0-1 year) Desire to be part of a high-functioning team Willingness to jump in and help on time-sensitive projects Familiarity with basic design programs such as Canva and PowerPoint An ability to lift boxes and travel Nice to Have Experience creating social media content Interest and experience presenting at internal and external meetings, both virtual and in-person Experience interacting with authors & illustrators A love of children’s books is a plus. This is a full-time position based in Somerville, MA with the option for hybrid work. The salary range for this role is $44,000-48,000 and is commensurate with experience.
