Scope of Responsibility: Plans, directs, and implements Safety Training for the Alvarado and Kennedale, Texas locations. Training topics to include, but not be limited to, New Hire Safety Orientation, Forklift Operation, Crane Operation, Man Lift Operation, Working at Heights, Fire Prevention, Chemical Safety, Electrical Safety, Ladder Safety, Welding Safety, etc. Essential Duties: Plans and implements programs to train employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials. Conducts new hire and temporary employee EHS training as needed. Creates Training Content and manages the Sabre Industries Training Content Library. Promotes safety awareness; schedules & performs hazard awareness training. Conducts needs analyses and leads the development of training programs to ensure that employees receive appropriate safety training and orientation for the positions they hold. Works with management to implement and enforce remedial training for employees who have safety incidents on their records. Conducts safety training and post-incident/injury training for employees after an incident and for all new hires. Conducts on-site safety training at each building periodically. Creates course materials, such as PowerPoints, handouts, and competency tests for instructor-led programs taught by self or others. Assists in development and ongoing improvements to computer-based training. Uses a variety of tools, equipment, and methods to execute high quality training, gather trainee feedback, and report on training goals and initiative progress. Leads or coordinates monthly Safety Meetings through content creation and presentation. Coordinates delivery of Toolbox Safety Talks and JSA training. Trains Supervisors and Leads in workplace injury procedures, including proper preparation of reports. Develops Annual Training Schedule. Maintains records of safety trainings, inspections and reports in an organized manner that is easily accessible to executive management. Collaborates with EHS team members to monitor site incident trends, employee feedback, and continuous improvement projects to anticipate and proactively fill training/knowledge gaps appropriately. Cross-trains on other EHS topics with guidance from other SME’s. Participates in Incident Investigations to help identify Root Causes. Participates in Safety Process Reviews and Risk Assessments and works with plant leadership and employees to develop training plans for resolution. Implements recommended post-incident safety measures. Manages, develops, and implements JSAs and training programs in the use of safety equipment including PPE, chemical hazards, noise hazards, physical hazards, and safe operating practices. Assists management to implement such programs. Maintains recordkeeping as directed. Gathers pertinent information, statistics, and figures to be presented in the form of EHS metrics. Assists and provides input to Manager of EHS in program development. Collects data and assists in regulatory reporting. Evaluates employees on equipment operations (e.g., Forklifts, Overhead Bridge Cranes, Elevated Work Platforms, etc.) for them to become Authorized Users. Maintain and update all Safety Material to insure it is compliant with all Federal and State requirements. Other duties as assigned. Competencies: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
