Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist (Kirkland or Redmond sites) Job Description The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist supports, develops, and enhances environmental, health, and safety programs across a dynamic portfolio that includes a low Earth orbit satellite system operation. This role focuses on building and improving EHS compliance and risk management processes, driving understanding and engagement across the organization, and integrating EHS into daily operations. The EHS Specialist develops and executes EHS compliance programs, aligns site practices with global EHS policies, and partners closely with stakeholders and leadership to achieve best-in-class compliance and continuous improvement in EHS performance. Responsibilities Support the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards in alignment with global EHS policies. Develop and enhance EHS compliance and risk management processes to improve overall EHS performance for the portfolio. Drive understanding, engagement, and ownership of EHS responsibilities across business units and influence leadership to further integrate EHS into daily operations. Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational disease and industrial health hazards. Promote EHS awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communication, training, and participation in EHS initiatives. Serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues, providing guidance and support to stakeholders. Support regulated waste management activities, including consolidation, inspections, and compliance with applicable requirements. Perform compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory checks, and life safety audits. Execute and support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and customer requirements. Support and conduct EHS audits, develop action plans to address findings, and implement corrective and preventive measures promptly and effectively. Perform risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for new processes and equipment to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly EHS metrics and report them to onsite management teams and corporate reporting systems. Support management efforts to ensure compliance with corporate EHS program expectations and applicable federal and state laws. Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomic improvements, to reduce injury and exposure risks. Establish, coordinate, and manage the safety committee to promote collaboration on EHS topics and initiatives. Drive continual improvement efforts to reduce site safety and environmental risks through proactive identification of issues and implementation of solutions. Support site stand-up meetings, safety committee meetings, and floor inspections to reinforce EHS standards and expectations. Collaborate with stakeholders across operations, including warehousing and manufacturing environments, to ensure EHS requirements are understood and implemented. Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information related to security, personnel, and EHS incidents. Adapt to varying shift schedules and travel requirements to provide onsite EHS support where needed. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. At least 1 year of experience providing EHS support, with experience in warehousing environments. Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards, including OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910. Ability to conduct risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for new processes and equipment. Experience conducting EHS compliance activities such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory reviews, and life safety audits. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional setting for documentation, reporting, and data analysis. Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with security, personnel, and sensitive EHS matters. Strong communication skills to effectively train, engage, and influence employees and leadership on EHS topics. Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders to support best-in-class EHS compliance. Capability to collect, track, and report EHS metrics accurately on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
