ELA Middle School Teacher

ELA Middle School Teacher (6th - 8th) QUALIFICATIONS: Holds or is eligible for a New Jersey Instructional Certificate with appropriate endorsement (i.e.: Elementary K-5 with Math/Language Arts Literacy/Science/Social Studies Specialization in grades 5-8; Teacher of Mathematics/Language Arts Literacy/Science/Social Studies; Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped). REPORTS TO: Principal JOB GOAL Instructs assigned pupils in accordance with curriculum adopted by the Board of Education. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates competence in subject field(s) assigned and deemed highly qualified per standards established by NJDOE. Provides activities and experiences to meet the needs, interests and abilities of students. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives. Assesses the academic and behavioral status of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Participates in identifying and meeting pupil needs in cooperation with other professional staff members. Establishes and maintains, with the support of administrators, standards of pupil behavior appropriate to the activity. Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Prepares for classes assigned and develops general lesson plans related to established curriculum goals. <
