Job Description
The Division of Elections is now accepting applications for a temporary Election Clerk 2 in the Absentee and Petitions Office in Anchorage. This is a full-time, temporary role running through mid-November. While this position is not eligible for health insurance or PERS, it does participate in the Alaska Supplemental Annuity Plan (SBS) as an alternative to Social Security contributions. Please note that overtime will be required during the peak election season. What you will be doing: As a Temporary Election Clerk, the incumbent will be responsible for performing a full range of receptionist duties including providing telephone coverage and greeting the public. In addition, this position provides information to the public concerning voter registrations, polling locations, candidates, the absentee voting process, and other related information both orally and in writing. This position is responsible for extensive data entry functions with a high degree of accuracy, including voter registration input and absentee ballots. We are looking to hire someone with the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience: Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and calendar software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook), and the use of computer systems in an office environment. Ability to type 30 words per minute. Ability to understand oral and written instructions. Strong communication and customer service skills. Excellent attention to detail; thorough when performing work and conscientious about the importance of accuracy.
