Job No: 535855 Work Type: Full Time Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Facilities Operations/Skilled Trades, Veteran's Preference Eligible Department: 63571100 - FS-OPER-ELECTRIC Job Description Classification Title Electrician IV Classification Minimum Requirements: High school diploma and four years of appropriate experience in electrical work; appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience - Currently NCCER Certified Plus in trade or pass NCCER knowledge verification. Complete CORE and a trade specific Critical Task Assessment within 6 months. Job Description: Perform maintenance and repair of electrical distribution and lighting containing up to 600V. Troubleshoot (at advanced level) distribution and control equipment. Install, maintain, and repair electrical motors, generators, and related electrical and mechanical equipment. Perform maintenance of lighting fixtures. Accomplish preventive maintenance. Maintain, alter, and repair existing wiring, power appliances, light machinery, and electrical circuits. Maintain, alter, and repair electrical distribution systems, lighting, motors, and controls for mechanical systems. Install wiring, fixtures, and appliances in new construction. Estimate and support small projects, including lighting design. Locate and correct power failures and short circuits. Mentor and train lower-level technicians. Install wiring and conduit for electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Assist in pulling cable for primary systems. Enter maintenance data for work requests (WR) and time. Preventatively maintain emergency generator sets and fuel tanks. Lead providing support service to other trades, as may be required for timely and efficient repair of buildings and/or equipment. Clean and maintain shop and personal equipment. Operate UF/state vehicle(s) Valid Florida driver license Required Post-offer health assessment and Criminal background check Required NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: M-F 7 AM-3:30 PM Total hours per week: 40 Emergency work (as needed) Swing shift/on-call/standby (as required) Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy Expected Salary: $23.00- $25.70 Hourly based on experience Required Qualifications: High school diploma and four years of appropriate experience in electrical work; appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience - Currently NCCER Certified Plus in trade or pass NCCER knowledge verification, complete CORE and a trade specific Critical Task Assessment within 6 months. Preferred: EDUCATION & TRAINING: Valid Florida driver license Experience: At least five (5) years of electrical experience; appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Completion of an accredited Apprenticeship program Knowledge: Knowledge of procedures and methods for installing, altering, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures Knowledge of hand tools use Knowledge of planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments Knowledge of effective communications Knowledge of electrical trade and testing equipment (e.g., voltmeters, ohmmeters, and clamp-on-meters) Knowledge of bending and installing conduit and install in accordance with the Nec Skills: Skill in installing, altering, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures Skill in using hand tools Abilities: Ability to recognize safe working practices in maintenance and construction Ability to follow established safety practices and procedures Ability to recognize the proper materials and equipment to be used for a specific job Ability to make changes in materials and equipment to be used for a specific job Ability to recognize the different types of conduit benders and how they are used Ability to plan, organize, coordinate work assignments Ability to communicate effectively Physical Qualifications: Ability to wear appropriate safety equipment Ability to work in attics, basements, crawl spaces, and similar places Ability to work from elevated surfa
