Description Job Description POSITION:Nurse REPORTS TO:Director of Campus Operations POSITION TYPE:10-month START DATE:26-27 School Year COMPENSATION:$65,000-$82,500 At YES Prep, work for a mission that impacts the life trajectory of students and their families.YES Prep creates pathways to extraordinary opportunity through best-in-class development, competitive compensation and benefits, and recognition for your impact.Grow as an authentic leader and be part of a high-performing, team-oriented culture.Some quick stats about us:19,500Students 2,200Team Members 15 Secondary Campuses 11 Elementary Campuses 92% Students Who Qualify for Free/Reduced-Price Lunch 96% Hispanic & African-American Students 90% Students Who Are Accepted to a 4-Year University 88% First-Generation College Students Ranked in the Top 100 High Schools in the Nation, U.S.News & World Report We serve the students of Houston, Texas, the 4th largest city across the United States.There are over 20 public-school districts and other great public charter school options within Houston's city limits serving our increasing population.We are a rapidly growing organization, committed to creating life-changing opportunities for over 23,000 students by 2025.THE ROLE When you join the YES Prep team, you will assist the Manager of Health and Wellness and provide or aide staff and students with first aid, immunization, screenings and data input for reports, State required screenings and reporting services and/or procedures under the supervision of the Manager of Health and Wellness.Some exciting work and responsibilities are to:Maintaining system-wide student medical records; Participating in the formulation of campus health program goals and objectives; Providing direct health care, emergency first aid and car, and related health services according to YES Prep policies and procedures; Providing preventive health care by providing appraisals, screening programs, referrals and following up; recognizing, reporting and using control measures on communicable disease; and monitoring and following up on immunizations needs; Providing personal care support for students who are not fully toilet trained; Promoting Health and Community Services; Processing State Required Screenings; Upholding national standards to protect the privacy of student health information; Ensuring compliance with HIPPA & FERPA; Maintaining compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics; Identifying and accessing student health problems to primary health care; Monitoring student immunization records; Maintaining staff and student right to privacy; Conducting specific health instruction for students, parents and staff and serving as a resource to staff regarding health instruction; Reporting all injuries of staff and students to supervisor immediately; Performing and/or assisting staff and student in first aid, screenings and state reports; Performing duties according to policy and procedure to maintain safe school environment; Participating in duties throughout the school year for state compliance; Assisting with vision, hearing, scoliosis, ANTES screenings; Processing and managing seizures, asthma, diabetes, etc.for students; Assisting with student immunization records and maintaining updated records in the YES Prep student database; Assisting with inventory of medical supplies; Ensuring all health and shot records are up to date for all students on campus; Maintaining sign in sheets, incident reporting, and medication logs for students according to our policies and procedures; Flexibility with campus schedule as needed; Additional duties as assigned.THE PERSON We seek staff with a multitude of backgrounds, talents, interests, and ideas.Certain traits consistently shine through for our most successful employees:passion for the mission, drive for results, care for students, resilience, and humility.Other traits needed and desired for this role are:THE MUST HAVES Registered Nurse (R.N.) with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution Currently licensed as an R.N.in the State of Texas One year of experience as a licensed R.N.Valid Texas driver's license with applicable insurance coverage Must hold a valid certification for both CPR and AED use from a nationally recognized organization, or attend a district required training to become certified within a given time frame Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback Ability to maintain emotional control under stress Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment Ability to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives at once Demonstrated ability to work on a team A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional NOTE:YES Prep follows the Texas Board of Nursing recommendation that a newly licensed Nurse not practice in an independent setting for a period of 12-18 months post-licensure
