The team works across avionics, weapons systems, ground-based defense, and space systems. Job description Designs, develops, operates, and maintains embedded software and firmware components for safety-critical avionics systems. Applies engineering standards, processes, and tools across the full software development life cycle. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users, and cross-functional technical personnel. What you''ll be responsible for Design, develop, test, and debug device drivers, boot loaders, and built-in-test libraries for safety-critical avionics mission computers Develop in C targeting the LynxOS/LynxElement Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) Collaborate with cross-functional teams on software/FPGA/hardware interfaces Integrate custom-designed hardware and FPGAs with software in a lab environment Support documentation, error correction, and performance validation Participate in certification activities including requirements and code reviews to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards Required experience & skills Extensive embedded software development experience (16+ years with BS, or 14+ years with MS) Proficiency in C programming for embedded/real-time environments Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) Familiarity with device driver development and boot loader design Experience supporting safety-critical or certifiable software systems FPGA integration experience Nice-to-haves Experience with LynxOS or LynxElement RTOS specifically Background in avionics or defense systems Familiarity with DO-178C or similar safety-critical certification standards Education Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
