Summary Description Emergency 911 Dispatcher City of Grandview Heights The City of Grandview Heights is actively seeking highly motivated, mission-driven professionals for full-time Emergency 911 Dispatcher positions.This role is critical to public safety and demands individuals who perform with precision, confidence, and composure under pressure.Dispatchers operate from a newly constructed, purpose-built public safety facility, working directly among our officers and the fire department.Our center is equipped with state-of-the-art radios and call-handling systems, as well as enhanced 9-1-1 technology, to support critical operations.Our workstations are ergonomically designed and adjustable, supporting dispatcher health, alertness, and performance during extended shifts.Other amenities include a fitness center, patio, and terrace- reinforcing the City's commitment to workforce readiness and wellness.This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, maintain attention to detail, and are committed to serving the community with professionalism and integrity.We encourage you to apply if you are ready to take on a demanding role where your decisions directly impact lives.Essential Functions Under the direct supervision of the 911 Communications Manager, answers all incoming 911 emergency and non-emergency police, fire, and medical calls.Inputs information in a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system for law enforcement response and documentation.Radio dispatching of law enforcement personnel; access to criminal justice information that requires handling and dissemination of sensitive materials; directs callers and gives non-emergency information, enters data into criminal justice information systems; and performs other related duties as assigned.This position requires shift work in a team environment that can be stressful.We are a 24-hour hours/7-day-per-week operation, including weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays.Schedules may be 8 or 10-hour shifts that may require overtime with or without advance notice.Education & Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma (or equivalent), and be authorized to work in the United States.Within six months of hire, the selected candidate must qualify for Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) certification.Training will be provided.Though not required, the desired candidate will possess at least one (1) year of experience in a comparable capacity or two years of clerical, general office, or call center experience.Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint, is also preferred.Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, be able to work independently, and maintain confidentiality.An Associate Degree and one or more years of experience in public safety emergency communications, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, is preferred.Prospective candidates will be required to pass a background investigation, truth verification exam, and drug screen.Supplemental Information Salary $55,000 - $85,000 per year (based on qualifications and experience).In addition, the selected candidate will earn a $1.30/hour shift differential for all hours worked on second and third shift.Health Care:The City provides health, prescription, vision and dental through the Franklin County Cooperative.http://www.Bewell.franklincountyohio.gov.Life Insurance:The City provides $75,000 in life insurance to all full time and permanent part time employees.Additional Voluntary Benefits:The City also offers VOLUNTARY supplemental life insurance above the city provided coverage, short-term and long-term disability, and flexible spending accounts.These are all voluntary programs that will have a cost associated with them.Wellness:Participation in the City's Wellness program is available to all Benefit Eligible employees, at no cost, and allows employees to earn up to $400 and a reduced deductible for next year.Ohio Deferred Compensation Program:City employees can participate in the Ohio Deferred Compensation 457(b) and Ohio Deferred Compensation Roth 457.Longevity:Employees shall receive an annual longevity payment based on completed years of continuous service with the City.Leave Accrual:Full-Time employees are eligible to earn personal, sick, vacation and compensatory or flex time.Personal Leave Employees earn 24 hours of personal leave per year.Sick Leave Employees earn 4.6 hours per pay period.Vacation Leave Employees accrue vacation based on years of public service ranging from 96 to 216 hours per year.Holidays Employees receive eleven paid holidays.911 Dispatchers receive this pay in a lump sum on an annual basis.Paid Parental Leave Paid Parental Leave is available to full-time employees who have worked for the City a minimum of 90 days.Paid parental leave is available following birth or adop
