Job description: PADCOM is recruiting an EMS Senior Technician to support the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Maintenance & Operations program. This is a contract assignment through September 30, 2026, with potential extension through September 30, 2028. About the Role The EMS Senior Technician will assist the EMS Supervisor with field work to maintain LAUSD's HVAC Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Energy Management Systems (EMS). You will work alongside the LAUSD Technical Quality Support Team (TQST) to repair and maintain HVAC DDC front-end EMS, drive preventive maintenance, identify energy conservation measures, and recommend facility improvements across the district. Responsibilities Assist with HVAC DDC and EMS design and submittal reviews Review utility data and energy usage to identify schools for recommissioning and retro-commissioning Review EMS data, energy usage, and alarms to identify no-cost and low-cost energy conservation and preventive maintenance measures Perform site visits to investigate and evaluate EMS/DDC conditions on identified projects Scope and implement low-cost solutions or alternatives for EMS repairs at existing school sites Respond to trouble calls, calibrate systems, and troubleshoot basic electrical and DDC problems Assist in managing in-house commissioning projects Minimum Requirements Minimum 3 years of professional experience as an HVAC DDC technician Working knowledge of computer networking principles including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting Ability to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC DDC maintenance issues Fundamental understanding of HVAC operations within a facility Bachelor's or associate degree in mechanical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or information technology OR a 2-year technical degree in HVAC or electronics-related studies plus 2 additional years of experience (year-for-year substitution) Preferred Qualifications Experience with multiple DDC manufacturers: Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta, Distech, Schneider Electric, or Trane Proven ability to debug installation issues during static and dynamic start-up phases Experience supporting installation personnel and other contractors on project sites Extensive experience performing or assisting in EMS commissioning Assignment Details Start: ASAP Assignment end: September 30, 2026 Position end (with extensions): September 30, 2028 Sponsor: LAUSD Facilities Services Division — Maintenance & Operations
