Job Description
Roanoke, VA | $105,000 - $135,000 And DOE + Bonus Seeking at least 4++ years experience. The Mission At the intersection of sustainability and high-performance hardware, we are building an intelligent energy network to power a greener future. We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Lab Manager to serve as the technical anchor of our Roanoke operations. Reporting directly to Greg Morehead, VP of Engineering , you will be the bridge between design and deployment, ensuring our hardware and firmware roadmaps move from prototype to production with precision. The Role This is not a "desk-only" management position. You are the owner of a multifaceted technical ecosystem, overseeing both our Engineering Lab and our Warehouse/RMA Center. You will lead an agile team while remaining deeply involved in the daily technical work-from prototype assembly to complex system validation. In this exciting role you'll have access to specialized equipment like SMT prototype lines, thermal chambers, and custom site-replication testing walls. This is an opportunity to lead a critical facility for a high-growth technology leader. If you thrive in an environment where you can manage a team one hour and troubleshoot a PCB the next, we want to hear from you. Your Impact Technical Ownership: Lead the daily operations of a lab equipped with an SMT prototype line, 3D printing, and high-end diagnostic tools. You will ensure all systems are calibrated and ready to support an ambitious product roadmap. Infrastructure Innovation: Maintain and expand our unique customer-site replication testing wall, ensuring it accurately reflects real-world configurations for critical validation and regression testing. Hardware Lifecycle Support: Manage the end-to-end RMA workflow, performing failure analysis, equipment diagnostics, and production firmware programming for outbound hardware. Collaborative Engineering: Serve as a primary resource for Hardware and QA teams, providing hands-on support for prototype builds, test fixtures, and DVT/PVT activities. Team Leadership: Hire, mentor, and manage an Embedded Test Technician. You will be responsible for workload prioritization and providing the technical guidance necessary to hit product milestones. What You Bring Depth of Experience: 5 or more years in an electronics lab, embedded test, or hardware engineering environment. Technical Mastery: Proficiency with SMT rework, prototype assembly, and interpreting complex electronic schematics and PCB designs. The Toolbox: Expert-level comfort with oscilloscopes, power supplies, thermal chambers, and logic analyzers. Operational Agility: A proven ability to manage competing priorities and communicate schedule status clearly in a fast-paced environment. Education: A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or significant equivalent hands-on experience. Benefits Be a part of a progressive, growing company with redhot technology! Flexible Work-Life Balance! Comprehensive Benefits: Standard packages typically include health, dental, and life insurance, along with a 401(k) plan. Collaborative Environment: Teams are known for being supportive and willing to assist, particularly in technical troubleshooting and lab operations.
