THE MISSION: WHAT YOU’LL DO You are the guardian of City standards! Your eagle eye will ensure that every new single-family home, sprawling commercial complex, and essential utility line meets our high standards for safety, quality, and community aesthetics. Plan Examiner Extraordinaire: Dive into blueprints, grading plans, and utility permits, ensuring everything aligns perfectly with the City's ordinances. Field Inspector: Get out of the office and into the action! You’ll inspect residential and commercial offsite improvements (sidewalks, driveways, ramps) and utility work to ensure compliance. GIS Guru: Conduct field data collection and maintain city-owned GIS surveying equipment. Code Communicator: Be the friendly, expert face of the Engineering division, providing technical assistance to engineers, contractors, real estate agents, and homeowners at the counter or over the phone. Problem Solver: Identify plan defects, prepare correction reports, and collaborate with industry professionals to find smart solutions. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR You are a proactive team player with a passion for construction, infrastructure, and community development. Minimum Qualifications: An Associate/Technical degree AND considerable experience in general construction and infrastructure, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Driver's License. Ability to obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training (FEMA) upon hire. You’ll Thrive Here If You Have: General knowledge of basic construction, civil engineering principles, and utility operations. Strong skill in mathematics, including geometry and statistics. Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, maps (especially GIS), and specifications.
