Who we're looking for Toyota's Environmental Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Environmental Engineering Candidate. This role is based at the TMMI site, where the Environmental Operations group focuses on protecting the environment and ensuring compliance with air, water, and waste regulations, as well as Toyota's Enhanced Environmental Management System standards. The position is flexible and will support the site's environmental program, primarily ensuring compliance with EPA and IDEM regulations. What you'll be doing Ensure compliance with all permits, including Federal Air Regulations, industrial wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater. Interpret and implement activities related to new regulations, including those for industrial wastewater, stormwater, groundwater, and air. Prepare and submit reports for review related to industrial wastewater, stormwater, groundwater, air or annual environmental performance. Assist TMMI in compliance with SPCC, SWPPP, spill response, and programs to maintain compliance with TMC and TMNA internal requirements, including shop audits for Toyota EEMS and ISO 14001. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of environmental performance, incidents, and compliance activities. Use data analytics to track environmental KPIs and support decision-making processes with emphasis on environmental management. Understand all environmental program requirements for assigned shops and lead shops in meeting internal and external requirements. Investigate environmental incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Participate with TMMI Environmental outreach and external environmental program certifications. Assist TMMI with energy management, including energy saving project identification, implementation, and energy management visualization, as well as supporting 2050 Targets and related projects. Represent the TMMI Environmental team as necessary. What you bring Bachelor of Science or higher in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or equivalent work experience (3+ years). Experience with environmental compliance in a manufacturing setting, including developing processes to comply with regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. Ability to work weekends and shutdowns as necessary (approximately 10%). Ability to travel up as needed (approximately 10%). Class D wastewater license or willingness to pursue one. Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record acceptable by company standards for occasional driving on-site and between facilities. Added bonus if you have Master of Science or higher in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Science. Class D Wastewater License. Experience with EPA Title V air permits and related programs and testing. Experience with Toyota Production System or similar lean methodologies. Experience using Power BI and/or other database systems for data analysis. Experience with ISO 14001 implementation in a manufacturing setting, including process development for compliance. Knowledge of Indiana stormwater and groundwater regulations. Knowledge of federal and state air, water, and waste environmental regulations. Experience in the automotive industry, preferably vehicle production. Knowledge of Toyota internal environmental policies and regulatory requirements. Experience coordinating projects with internal plant personnel, contractors, and vendors. Strong skills in preparing technical documents and visual presentations, including securing project approvals.
