UAA Anchorage Campus Facilities Maintenance and Operations Department is seeking to fill one position in our Fleet Shop for a Fleet Equipment Tech as either a CT1, CT2, or CT3 based on years of relatable experience. Facilities and Campus Services is an organization consisting of 3 major divisions: Facilities Maintenance/ Operations, Facilities Planning and Construction, and Environmental Health and Safety. It is the responsibility of these divisions to provide a safe effective environment for the students and staff of the university to study, work and live. We are a high paced shop that offers many roles on the UAA campus. We handle all repairs of electric, gas/diesel equipment, generators, and vehicles for UAA. We handle all logistics of moving large items on campuses (Forklifts, Frontend Loaders, towing trailers). We handle welding of metal items throughout campus. We do seasonal tire change over twice a year. We help out our grounds department with snow removal during winter season. We operate a rental program of (5) vans and (1) truck throughout the year for UA personal. We are looking for a successful candidate who can repair a wide range of equipment including small engines, vehicles, heavy equipment, and generators, while also transitioning between hands-on repair, preventive maintenance, manual labor, and operating various types of equipment as needed. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills using digital systems, manuals, and diagnostic tools, along with maintaining accurate online work order documentation for tracking and billing purposes. Experience in welding and metal fabrication for equipment repair is also required. To thrive in this role at any level, you must have the ability to read and interpret technical documents and procedures; prepare reports and correspondence; and communicate effectively with management and coworkers. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment while supporting safe, productive operations. Skilled in interpreting technical information, solving problems, and applying mathematical concepts in practical trade-related situations. In the Crafts and Trades 1 (CT1) level, the candidate must apply basic algebra and geometry to routine calculations and technical problem-solving tasks under general supervision. In the Crafts and Trades 2 (CT2) level, the candidate must be able to demonstrate increased technical proficiency through the application of algebraic and geometric concepts to more complex calculations, analysis, and problem-solving responsibilities. In the Crafts and Trades 3 (CT3) level, the candidate must apply advanced mathematical and analytical concepts, including geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistical inference, to complex technical problem-solving and trade-related operations. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for at least one Craft and Trades level to be considered. CT1: May possess journeyman level certification. Requires apprentice level or other equivalent certification appropriate to the specific trade; with a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
