Job Description
Summary Plans and implements an Extended School Year program that includes instruction in communication, life, and social skills; works with students in all grade levels that are visually impaired; navigates diverse student needs through a continuum of services to promote curriculum access, participation, and skill maintenance; utilizes best practices in teaching to achieve student?s IEP goals; manages student behavior; follows pre-designed lessons, activities, and maintains appropriate pacing; orders, receives, and distributes supplies; participates in Summer Collaborative Team meetings; collaborates with administrators, central office staff, teachers, and paraprofessionals; serves as a resource on Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) for addressing student communication needs. This position requires flexibility in serving multiple sites on an itinerant schedule. Qualifications Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education and an endorsement in Special Education Vision Impairments PreK-12, with experience in teaching Special Education students. Experience in teaching at various school grade levels, preferred. Knowledge of the instructional practices, techniques, and materials pertaining to the assigned teaching specialty; proficiency in technology; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop positive relationships with staff, students, and families; ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and varied skill levels in a collaborative learning environment.
