Job Description
SUMMARY The Event Manager is a key position that will be responsible for detailing, servicing, planning for the success of weddings and Group Meetings with collaboration of key departments to achieve maximum profitability and guest satisfaction. The successful candidate will be creative, a problem solver, has a proven record of being a team player, is open to learning and leading by example, responds in a professional and courteous manner to guests and team. The position has responsibility for the management of group room blocks assigned with a seamless turnover from sales. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create an atmosphere in all event management operation areas that meet or exceed guest expectations Sets a positive example for guest relations Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints Strives to improve service performance Attends and participates in all pertinent meetings Understand the importance of raising the meeting planner evaluation scores and implement effective methods to ensure exceeding meeting planner satisfaction. Participate in the re-booking of repeat business by having a track record of long-term client relationships Comfortable with hotel site inspections and client presentations Excellent creative skills to provide innovative set-ups, menus, and functions for groups. Excellent knowledge of Delphi / Amadeus / Salesforce. OPERA knowledge a plus. Monitor group room blocks and pick up, for the purpose of forecasting and contributing to overall guest room sales efficiency. Generate detailed resumes for the operating departments Ability to work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis, weekends and holidays. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned. Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public, etc. Handle financial elements such as prepayment according to established procedures Work closely with the Sales teams to build relationships with area businesses, to support the revenue goals of the resort. Coordinate and communicate with any 3rd party vendor on scope of work, delivery schedules, product installation and teardowns. Actively participate in department events such as Quarterly Showcase and Tasting events. Have a genuine internal drive that demonstrates consistent regard and dedication to guests and the organization by being engaged, interested, and productive. Maintain a working knowledge of the marketplace; actively and collaboratively assists in building the best practices necessary for the resort's success. Possess strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented to ensure cooperation and coordination with other departments/managers in the daily flow of our Resort's Operations. Availability to work when the events are happening, i.e. weekends, nights and holidays Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally to achieve goals. Ability to thrive in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty effectively. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 3 years+ experience as a Catering/Event Manager in a high-end Catering environment
