Executive Director About the Company Well-established park district Industry Health, Wellness and Fitness Type Government Agency Employees 1-10 About the Role The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its Park District. The successful candidate will be the chief executive officer, responsible for the overall administration, planning, and operation of all district functions. This role involves providing strategic leadership, implementing board policy, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality parks, facilities, and recreation services in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner. The Executive Director will also be tasked with overseeing financial management, leading and mentoring senior management staff, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven organizational culture. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a master’s degree preferred, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in public parks and recreation, municipal government, or a nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will have significant senior-level leadership experience, expertise in budgeting, capital development, personnel management, and strategic planning, as well as strong communication, interpersonal, and public engagement skills. Knowledge of Illinois park district law, governance practices, and labor relations is highly desirable, and professional certification such as CPRP or CPRE is preferred. The role requires a visionary and community-oriented professional who can work collaboratively with the Board of Commissioners, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and promote community engagement and innovation in response to evolving recreational needs.
