Executive Director of Operations – Powerline Construction Services Position Summary The Executive Director of Operations is a senior executive responsible for leading all operational, financial, and strategic aspects of the company’s powerline construction services business (electrical distribution construction - overhead and underground) while driving financial performance, operational excellence, workforce development, and long-term growth initiatives. The Executive Director of Operations provides executive leadership through strategic planning, resource optimization, technical support, and data-driven decision-making. This position plays a critical role in advancing innovation, operational efficiency, AI-enabled technologies, and scalable growth strategies while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and financial excellence across the organization. Key Responsibilities Executive & Strategic Leadership Lead company-wide operational strategy for powerline construction and utility infrastructure services. Develop and execute long-term growth objectives aligned with corporate vision and market opportunities. Partner with executive leadership to drive organizational performance, scalability, and profitability. Establish operational goals, KPIs, and performance metrics to support strategic initiatives. Foster a culture of operational discipline, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Identify opportunities for expansion, acquisitions, service diversification, and market growth. Financial Performance & Operational Excellence Drive financial performance through disciplined operational management, forecasting, budgeting, and cost controls. Oversee labor utilization, equipment allocation, project productivity, and margin performance. Analyze operational and financial data to support executive decision-making and improve profitability. Develop resource allocation strategies that maximize efficiency across crews, equipment, and regional operations. Lead initiatives focused on reducing operational waste, improving asset utilization, and increasing project performance. Partner with finance, estimating, and project management teams to ensure accurate project costing and contract execution. Promote a culture of financial excellence through accountability, performance visibility, and operational transparency. AI, Technology & Innovation Lead implementation of AI-driven technologies and digital solutions to improve operational efficiency, forecasting, safety, and project execution. Utilize data analytics and business intelligence platforms to drive strategic decision-making and operational visibility. Champion innovation initiatives including: Predictive analytics Workforce optimization tools Automated reporting systems AI-assisted scheduling and resource planning Equipment tracking and utilization technologies Evaluate and implement emerging utility construction technologies that improve safety, productivity, and profitability. Collaborate with IT and operational leadership to modernize systems and enhance enterprise-wide data integration. Technical Support & Infrastructure Expertise Provide executive-level technical support and operational guidance for complex utility infrastructure projects. Ensure compliance with utility standards, engineering specifications, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements. Support project teams in resolving operational challenges, construction risks, and technical issues. Maintain strong knowledge of transmission and distribution systems, utility construction methods, and industry best practices. Safety & Compliance Leadership Champion a safety-first culture throughout all operations and field activities. Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, utility, and environmental regulations. Lead initiatives focused on incident reduction, risk management, and safety performance improvement. Support ongoing workforce training, certifications, and operational readiness programs. Leadership & Workforce Development Lead, mentor, and develop regional managers, operations leaders, project managers, and field personnel. Build high-performing teams focused on accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence. Support succession planning, leadership development, and workforce retention initiatives. Foster a culture that values innovation, strategic thinking, and continuous professional growth. <
