Department: Plant Operations & Maintenance FTE: 1.00 Full Time Shift: Days Position Summary Manage and supervise operations and maintenance for Plant Operations and Facilities at UNM Hospitals Main and BBRP facilities. Represent Hospitals interests with contractors during construction and renovation cycles. Develop long range plant and facility equipment plans for maintenance, upgrade and replacement. Develop and implement plans to ensure TJC / CMS / DOH compliance and conditions of participation are met. Plan for improvements to facilities creating pleasant and comfortable surroundings for patients, visitors and employees. Foster a supportive environment promoting employee participation, cooperation and professional growth. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment. Detailed responsibilities OPERATION - Ensure the smooth and efficient daily operation of the department MATERIALS - Estimate and order materials for department operations POLICIES - Establish and enforce departmental policies QUALITY - Maintain an ongoing quality improvement process and training program within the department RECORDS - Maintain records for preventive maintenance, personnel and materials management SCHEDULES - Evaluate and prioritize work for proper scheduling; develop staff work schedules CONTRACTORS - Assist in coordinating the work and staff of outside contractors ensuring effective interface with Facilities staff TJC / CMS / DOH- Ensure assigned elements of performance (TJC) and conditions of participation (CMS/DOH) are in compliance INFRASTRUCTURE - Ensure assigned infrastructure systems are functional and properly maintained; plan for timely upgrade and replacement DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives Qualifications Related Education and Experience may be substituted for one another on a year for year basis. Education Essential Bachelor's Degree Nonessential: Bachelor's Degree Education specialization: Essential Related Discipline Nonessential: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Experience: Essential 2 years directly related experience Nonessential Facilities engineering and maintenance direct hands-on experience Credentials Nonessential Journeyman Boiler Operator License in New Mexico CID Low & High Pressure Boiler License in New Mexico Portable Water Level II Journeyman Electrician License in New Mexico Journeyman Gas Fitter License in New Mexico Journeyman Plumber License in New Mexico Journeyman Mechanical License MM-98 in Mechanical Engineering Physical Conditions: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
