Job Purpose The Shelter Family Advocate ensures the general safety and structure of the shelter by monitoring and explaining shelter rules and policies.Maintain general operation of the shelter by being available to residents as needed/requested, ensuring inventory is fulfilled as needed, and assisting with essential tasks related to food preparation.This position reports directly to the Shelter Coordinator.Duties and Responsibilities Ensure resident compliance with shelter rules and assist new residents in the navigation of shelter program and guidelines Responsible for securing food items at mealtimes and snacks Assist with the su pervision of meal preparation and household clean-up Perform accurate and detailed intakes on residents admitted during the advocate's shift and accurately Maintain strict confidentiality of all residents' information, apart from instances mandated by law.In such cases, refer to the Shelter Coordinator's guidance and follow organization protocol for reporting and response Ensure the shelter is a welcoming environment Engage, interact, and work toward fostering positive relationships with residents Maintain and track the inventory of linens, towel s, and washcloths at the shelter Assist in the maintenance of the shelter space, including period daily cleaning of workstation and completing status checks for up-keep of the rest of the shelter Keep accurate and timely logs for each shift Assist with other tasks as directed Pay:From $12.00 per hour Education:High school or equivalent (Required) Shift availability:Day Shift (Preferred) Night Shift (Preferred) Overnight Shift (Preferred) Ability to Commute:Orangeburg, SC 29116 (Required) Work Location:In person.
