Reports To: Assistant Medical Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Function: Clinical Classification: Temporary Schedule: Varies, On-Call Location: Onsite, position may be assigned to work at both IHC locations SUMMARY: Provides general medical, preventive, acute and chronic care, and treatment to patients in medical facility such as clinic, health center, or public health agency, under direction of Physician, by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The information in this job description indicates the general nature and level of work performed. Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Discusses case with Physician and other health care professionals as needed to prepare comprehensive patient care plan. Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures. Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment. Assists other staff members as directed by the medical director. Institutes referral and coordinate patient services to promote continuous comprehensive care at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Incorporate into the plan of care provisions for the preventive measure to improve health status based upon individual, cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors. Provides information for the patient, enabling patient to make realistic decisions in solving health and related problems and ensure joint responsibility with the professional health team members for the outcome of the patient’s care. Advises and counsels patients about normal developmental and maturational stages, and normal life crisis. Identifies and intervenes in problems related to these areas. Collects and records data according to the problem oriented medical record system, assuring timely and accurate completion of data entry into patient records. Provides support and counseling for patients with chronic disease regarding psycho-social, environmental, and physical well-being. Institutes emergency medical measures in life threatening situations. Assess and intervene in common developmental and behavioral problems of individuals in the family. Counsel’s men and women on available contraceptives and facilitate making the indicated birth control measures available. Monitors
