Job Description
P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc. is seeking a Family Support Case Worker to work a minimum of 40 hours a week (may include nights and weekends) to further our mission of strengthening families by providing resources, skills, support and advocacy to create a cycle of positive parenting and supports our values of empowering, integrity, teamwork, accountability and effective. The overall goal of the position is to promote safe and stable families by mitigating the risk of child abuse and/or neglect to the families that are referred to the program from Child Welfare Services (CWS). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Meet with and provide support to families with a focus on parental skill building by using agency approved curriculum. Develop Lesson plans based on the Individual Program Plan (IPP) to teach and demonstrate appropriate parenting skills to parents/caregivers for family strengthening. Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during visits in various settings, including office, community and in-home visits between parents/caregivers and their children; transporting children and providing face-to-face contact between a child and his/her parent(s), siblings and other family members to support reunification and connections. Must meet required documentation/reporting deadlines. Must work cooperatively and effectively with the Management and Administration, co-workers and program participants in providing quality assurance for programs; have the knowledge, skill and ability to work with a wide range of individuals, community groups and systems of care; be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision; and adhere to all company policies and contractual requirements. All applicants must be honest, responsible, detail-oriented, organized and model ethical behavior and professional skills to both staff and program participants. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field, from an accredited institution; and a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with parents/caretakers who harmed or threatened to harm their children and children who experienced harm or were threatened with harm, and who experienced trauma and loss. Preferred: Additional experience working with domestic violence, substance abuse and permanency issues.
